Black Friday and the World Cup has propelled FIFA 23 back to the top of the UK retail charts, just ahead of Modern Warfare 2.

It’s not new releases that had the most impact on this week’s new physical sales charts but Black Friday, with FIFA 23 not only extra popular because of the World Cup but thanks to some decent price cuts in the sales.

Modern Warfare 2 discounts were more modest but still enough to propel it to number two, while the brand new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were supplanted after just a week – although Pokémon games are always underrepresented in the UK charts since they insist on counting them as two separate games.

What will happen to them next week remains to be seen, as there are a number of new releases due, including Need For Speed Unbound, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, and The Callisto Protocol.
