It looks like Gran Turismo 7 will be coming to PC, but its creator has warned that it won’t be easy to port over from PS5.

With every new game that’s brought over from PlayStation to PC it becomes obvious that the time between console and PC launches is shortening, but Gran Turismo 7 may turn out to be an exception.

It was first released on PlayStation 4 and 5 in March of this year but while director Kazunori Yamauchi has started talking about a PC port he’s warned that ‘it’s not a very easy subject’.

Asked whether he’d consider a PC version in the first place, he answered, ‘Yes, I do think so’ before implying that the way Gran Turismo was made for PlayStation would make it difficult to port to other formats.

‘Gran Turismo is a very finely tuned title,’ said Yamauchi. ‘There are not many platforms which could run the game in 4K/60p natively, so one way we make that possible is to narrow down the platform. It’s not a very easy subject, but of course, we are looking into it and considering it.’

Obviously, a high-end PC is more powerful than any console, but Yamauchi’s comments don’t seem to be in regards to raw power but rather the way in which Gran Turismo was designed specifically for PlayStation hardware.

The fact that the game was also squeezed onto PlayStation 4 suggests that some very specific tricks were used, although in speaking to GTPlanet he didn’t go into any further detail.

Sony has made no commitment to bring all of its first party games to PC but that does seem to be the general plan, with the publisher buying PC port specialist Nixxes Software specifically for that purpose.

Whether we’ll ever see PC versions released the same day as the console edition remains to be seen, but that could happen for the first time with Naughty Dog’s The Last Of Us multiplayer title, which is strongly rumoured to be a free-to-play title.
