Strictly Come Dancing’s Kym Marsh and professional partner Graziano Di Prima had their game faces on in the training room, after being forced to miss Saturday’s show.

The Coronation Street actress had to skip the latest live show – which saw Ellie Taylor being the ninth star eliminated – after testing positive for coronavirus last week.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the BBC said: ‘Kym Marsh has tested positive for Covid-19. As a result, Kym and Graziano will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend.’

They added that the guidance surrounding positive coronavirus cases means that if Kym is negative by the following week, she should be able to come back.

And it looks like that’s true, as Graziano updated his fans over the duo’s upcoming return to the dance floor.

‘Finally, I’ve been waiting one week to say that…. We are back!’ he enthused as he pointed the camera in Kym’s direction.

He added: ‘Guys thank you so much for all the messages, all the support. We’re going to do our best, and we’re going to start now.’

Before Saturday’s (November 26) show Graziano promised that the duo will deliver a routine to remember.

Taking to Instagram Stories, he wrote: ‘We will be back.. Stronger than before’ along with a picture of the pair dancing the Paso Doble with the audio playing Sia’s Unstoppable.

This year, several of the previous restrictions put in place on Strictly as a result of the pandemic were removed, including plastic barriers between the judges and the absence of a studio audience.

After their performance during the Blackpool special, Graziano and Kym landed at the bottom of the leaderboard with a score of 33 out of a possible 40, but they managed to avoid the dance-off.

The remaining six celebrities will compete in a musicals special when the BBC One programme returns on Friday, December 2 at 8pm, one day earlier than usual due to the World Cup 2022.

The results show will also air early, with the revamped episode set to take place on Saturday, December 3 at 5.40pm.

Strictly Come Dancing returns on Friday at 5:40pm on BBC One.
