Stars including Nicole Kidman and Bella Hadid have been called out for keeping quiet over the controversy surrounding Balenciaga.

The fashion brand faced widespread backlash after their recent campaign emerged online, including pictures of children posing with teddy bears in bondage.

Bosses initially addressed the outrage in a statement, before issuing a further apology for ‘displaying unsettling documents’ in some photos.

Kim Kardashian, who has built a strong relationship with the company over the last few years, shared her own response, explaining that she was ‘re-evaluating’ their professional ties.

However, fans have now taken aim at those who have remained silent amid the fury.

Supermodel Bella has worked with Balenciaga many times in the past, and previously posed for their collaboration with Adidas at the beginning of the month.

While those pictures are still visible on her Instagram profile, Page Six reports that she allegedly deleted an image related to another campaign from her page.

In the comments under many of her recent posts, fans pleaded with her to address the recent headlines, and remove the other posts relating to the brand.

Many questioned her stance and said that her silence on the incident is ‘deafening’, while others voiced their disappointment.

Nicole, who stormed the catwalk for the fashion house in the summer, was also met with fury on social media after not publicly distancing herself following the controversial photoshoot.

Below her recent Instagram post, a fan suggested that she should ‘cut ties’ with Balenciaga, as another asked her to ‘condemn’ those involved.

Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn attracted similar comments due to her previous runway appearance and current silence, with followers questioning whether she would stop working with the brand on social media.

‘Not gonna denounce Balenciaga??? As a mother, you 100% need to… [sic],’ one encouraged.

Kim was previously slammed after not being among the first to speak out, but insisted that she took the time to reach out to the brand’s team and get answers before sharing her thoughts.

‘I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been disgusted and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened,’ she said on Twitter this week.

‘As a mother of four, I have been shaken by the disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and any attempts to normalize child abuse of any kind should have no place in our society – period.

‘I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again.’

In a later post, she added: ‘As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with – & the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children.’

Balenciaga bosses also addressed the campaign, saying: ‘Our plush bear bags should not have been featured with children in this campaign. We have immediately removed the campaign from all platforms.’

In a later statement, the company apologized for the appearance of ‘unsettling documents’ in the photos, appearing to refer to documents from a Supreme Court case relating to child pornography laws.

‘We apologize for displaying unsettling documents in our campaign,’ they added. ‘We take this matter very seriously and are taking legal action against the parties responsible for creating the set and including unapproved items for our Spring 23 campaign photoshoot.

‘We strongly condemn abuse of children in any form. We stand for children safety and well-being.’
