Jonah Hill has filed a petition to change his surname, it has been claimed.
The 38-year-old, who has been a staple of the big screen for decades, is known professionally as Jonah Hill – but his last name is actually Feldstein.
He chose to drop this and adopt his middle name publicly, and is reportedly looking to make the change legal.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the 21 Jump Street actor submitted paperwork in LA earlier this week, requesting the swap.
The outlet reports that he is simply wanting to keep his stage name as his legal moniker, while his sister Beanie Feldstein will keep their family name as her own.
Jonah isn’t the only famous face who has gone down this route recently, as Aaron Paul is thought to have requested to switch his surname from Sturtevant, officially taking his middle name.

The Breaking Bad star, and his wife Lauren, reportedly explained that they want to conform to his professional identity and keep their family moniker consistent, as their son was registered as Paul.
Jonah recently made headlines when he announced that he would no longer be promoting his upcoming movies, after speaking out over his battle with anxiety.
The Hollywood icon, best known for his acclaimed roles in Superbad Wolf of Wall Street among many others, previously shared an open letter ahead of the release of his latest project, Stutz, explaining his decision to step back from public-facing appearances.
Stutz follows his ‘journey of self-discovery’ and visits with therapist Phil Stutz, to explore mental health challenges.

In a statement, Jonah said: ‘The whole purpose of making this film is to give therapy and the tools I’ve learned in therapy to a wide audience for private use through an entertaining film.
‘Through this journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public facing events.’
Jonah clarified that he would not be out there promoting it, in a bid to ‘protect’ himself.
‘If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film,’ he added. ‘I usually cringe at letters or statements like this but I understand that I am of the privileged few who can afford to take time off.

‘I won’t lose my job while working on my anxiety.
‘With this letter and with Stutz, I’m hoping to make it more normal for people to talk and act on this stuff. So they can take steps towards feeling better and so that the people in their lives might understand their issues more clearly.
‘I hope the work will speak for itself and I’m grateful to my collaborators, my business partners and to all reading this for your understanding and support.’
