Metallica are setting off on a massive world tour, however no solo shows have yet been confirmed for the UK.

The legendary rockers are preparing to release their 12th studio album – their first collection of new material since 2016 – as they were recently confirmed to make two appearances at Download festival next year.

Upcoming album 72 Seasons is set to launch on April 14, 2023, with the band teasing what to expect from the new record by sharing the music video for lead single Lux Aeterna.

But while April seems a long way away, fans of the Enter Sandman musicians have plenty to look forward to as the four-piece announce an absolutely massive world tour.

The M72 world tour has seen the band sign on to play two nights in every city they visit, with completely different set list and support acts each night of the city.

Fans will have the option of buying two-day tickets for both shows in the city, with some taking place the very next day and others seeing a few days between them.

The major tour will begin in April 2023 and is not due to come to an end until the end of September 2024, meaning James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo will be on the road for well over a year.

Things kick off in Europe, with shows in Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg and Gothenburg, before the rockers head Stateside for multikle shows in North America.

The band then returns to Europe for more shows across Germany, Denmark, Poland and Spain before heading back to the US, Canada and Mexico.

Surprisingly there are no UK solo dates yet – however they have been confirmed to perform at Download festival on both June 8 and 10.

There are also still several weekends where Metallica have no shows scheduled – so watch this space.

Throughout the tour Metallica will be supported on different light by the likes of Architects, Five Finger Death Punch, Pantera, Volbear, Greta Van Fleet and more.

Presale for the tour begins 9am November 30, followed by general sale on Friday, December 2 – However these will be tickets for the two-day No Repeat shows.

Meanwhile, single-day tickets will become available to buy from January 20.

A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to Metallica’s All Within My Hands foundation, which focuses on education, combating food insecurity and disaster relief efforts worldwide.
