Channel 4 has dropped the first teaser for the trial that had the nation hooked: Rebekah Vardy versus Coleen Rooney.
Telling the tale of the Wagatha Christie trial, a libel case that began in 2019 and concluded this summer in court, This Is England’s Chanel Cresswell and Harry Potter star Natalia Tena star as Rooney and Vardy respectively, with Michael Sheen playing Rooney’s barrister David Sherborne.
We may already be aware of how the tale will play out – with Vardy losing her libel case against Rooney after the latter accused the former of leaking ‘false stories’ about her to the press – but the 20-second clip already has us desperate for the drama to unfold.
The teaser begins with ‘Coleen’ scrolling through her social media and typing out the words we now know all too well.
‘For a few years now someone who I trusted has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts,’ she says.

Those were the opening lines from Rooney’s infamous social media post which ended with: ‘It’s……..Rebekah Vardy’s account,’ as, after her own detective work, Rooney posted ‘false stories’ to discover it was Vardy leaking them to the press.
The clip then scrolls to a courtroom scene in which Sheen grills ‘Rebekah’.
‘Mrs. Vardy, would you say you respect other people’s privacy?’ he asks.

We’re on the edges of our seats already.
The teaser comes after first look images of the courtroom characters were unveiled.

In one, Cresswell’s Rooney can be seen solemnly making her way to her seat in court, holding her blazer together with a hand adorned with her huge engagement ring.
Elsewhere, Sheen’s Sherborne stands at the plinth, looking confident in his material as he voices his argument to the court, while Tena’s Vardy appears downcast while sitting on the stand with a folder of documentation in front of her.

In another scene, Creswell’s Rooney looks sleek in a tan-brown jacket while reading some papers at a desk, while another moment shows her lounging on a sofa, peering at something intriguing on her phone.
Simon Coury plays Vardy’s barrister Hugh Tomlinson, with Dion Lloyd as Wayne Rooney and Márton Nagyszokolyai as Jamie Vardy.
Vardy V Rooney: A Courtroom Drama is due to air in December on Channel 4.
