The Crown theme tune has been given a 90s remix by Faithless in what might be the most unexpected mashup to hit 2022-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro
‘Not sure who was asking for this, but yeah okay why not.’
Just to add to our list of things we did not expect to happen this year, dance legends Faithless have given The Crown’s theme tune a little remix.
The drama, which is based on real life events following the royals, opens with a now pretty famous theme tune, composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer.
However, as the series moves into the 1990s, with the latest season following the breakdown of then Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s marriage, and the events leading up to her tragic death in 1997, Netflix called upon dance music act Faithless to put their stamp on the classical piece.
Faithless’ Sister Bliss said: ‘I could hear in my head how this mix could work around Hans Zimmer’s iconic and dramatic strings.
‘I dug around in the vaults and found lots of sounds and samples we saved from the 1990s when we were making our albums.
‘I thought “these are genuinely good”, so I loaded them up for this remix of Hans Zimmer’s score.
‘We wanted this to be unapologetically Faithless, and use some of the very original sounds that myself and Rollo made together.’

The dance icons, better known for hits like Insomnia, have transformed The Crown theme song into something unrecognisable.
Meanwhile the accompanying clip is worlds apart from the sombre original, as it features clippings of the series five cast alongside some 90s icons (like Geri Halliwell’s legendary Union Jack dress at the 1997 Brit Awards).
The video sees Dominic West in his role as the future King, with Elizabeth Debicki playing Diana.

Meanwhile, Imelda Staunton plays the Queen, alongside Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret.
The remix has already sent The Crown fans wild, with one person writing: ‘Not sure who was asking for this, but yeah okay why not.’
The Crown is available to watch on Netflix.
