The Traitors: Everything you need to know about Claudia Winkleman’s new mysterious game show-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Claudia Winkleman is fronting a brand new game show, one which promises to be the ‘ultimate game of deception, skill and trust.’

The murder mystery reality show looks to be terrifying, nail-biting and already has us hooked.

Ther 12-episode series will see 22 contestants move into a castle in the Scottish Highlands where they’ll take on challenges to try and win the prize money, which could reach £120,000.

But how does it actually work?

By day, the contestants will all work together to get through challenges, some of which look pretty horrific according to the trailer.

Along with a lot of screaming, the contestants seem to be faced with critters, jumping out of helicopters, and lazer mazes.

Each challenge they undertake can add to their prize fun, but as always, there’s a twist.

By night, the contestants will be split into two groups: The Traitors and The Faithful.

The Traitors will try and kill off one of the other group, but no one is sure who is who.

To avoid being ‘murdered’ at night, the contestants have to try and discover who is really a Traitor and who is lying.

While the Traitors decide which Faithful is going to be ‘murdered’ by night, during the day it is up to them all to decide who to ‘banish’, based on whether they believe them to be a Traitor.

Not everyone will make it to the end, but the more that do, the less prize money they each get.

The ultimate win is if a Traitor reaches the end without being discovered, they walk away with all the prize money.

While it sounds like a murder mystery game mixed with Among Us, the BBC show is based on a Dutch game show called De Verraders.

Claudia said: ‘It sounds totally straightforward but it’s not because they all start second guessing everybody and don’t know whether they can trust their best friend.

‘They’re not sure how a Traitor would behave or how a Faithful would behave and it messes with your head and it’s gripping to watch.’

Having chosen the two groups, she continued: ‘The thing is that some people want to be Agatha Christie and some people want to be a Traitor.

‘You’ve got to think who is robust and strong enough to take it on because it’s a really hard role because you’re essentially lying.’

She added: ‘One of the Traitors is so good at playing dumb, such a wily fox. I’m rooting for them so much but at the same time, when the Faithful finally get a Traitor out, you can’t believe it I felt so much emotion. I wanted to cry with joy at that roundtable. Somebody turns around says I am a traitor and the room just explodes.’

The Traitors airs tonight at 9.30pm on BBC One.
