A short clip from hit kids’ film Toy Story 3 has caused a massive stir online after a TikTok user claimed they could hear the film’s Ken doll using a distinctly non-Disney expletive.
The 2010 Disney-Pixar flick introduced Barbie’s iconic boyfriend Ken (voiced by Michael Keaton) for the first time, showing him as an underling to villain Lotso who is still salty over Barbie dumping him.
In the scene doing the rounds, she treats him to his own special brand of torture as she ties him up in his dreamhouse and begins ripping up his prized clothes in order to squeeze answers out of him.
In the footage, she fishes out her first sartorial victim from his clothing rack, saying: ‘Let’s see, Hawaiian surf trunks,’ as she rips them in half and throws them at them.
‘Oh Barbie! Those were vintage!’ is Ken’s horrified response – but some users were hearing something very different.
‘Do you hear “Oh Barbie” Or “Oh f***”?’ Kitty Feeley asked her followers as she first posted the clip while watching the 2010 animation to her account on TikTok on Saturday, which has since gone viral and been viewed over 36 million times.
The clip now has almost 37 million views as the debate rages, with many fans hearing both words (Picture: Disney/TikTok/kittyfeeley)
‘I literally hear both 😂,’ she added, alongside the hashtag ‘yannyorlaurel’, referencing the auditory illusion that first twisted a lot of people out of shape online in May 2018.
It seems Ken is doing exactly the same thing this time around too, with many fans divided and confused.
‘Am I being gaslit? It’s obviously “oh f**k”,’ tweeted one person, while another added: ‘It one million percent says, “oh Barbie!”’
‘Do people REALLY hear Barbie?!? I thought this was a joke, and all I hear is f**k,’ posted an incredulous fan.
One TikTok user admitted: ‘I cannot for the life of me here “oh Barbie.”’
However, in even odder circumstances, many people were claiming they could distinctly make out both words.

‘Please think of the words “oh f**k” or “oh barbie” to hear both clearly and tell me I’m going insane’, while another asked: ‘WHY ARE THEY BOTH SO CLEAR.’
As one fan declared ‘this is breaking my brain’, another explained: ‘I hear “oh Barbie” unless I’m thinking of the other words and then I can definitely hear those.’
‘If I read oh Barbie, I hear that… if I read the other, I hear that….’ one fan shared and another agreed: ‘I can hear whichever one I’m thinking about.’
‘The new Laurel or Yanny,’ declared another TikTok user (but let’s also not forget the 2015 visual version, which was the whole blue/black or white/gold dress saga).
The clip is also available on YouTube without any audio disparity from recording a recording, but your brain might be too broken already at this stage to make out what is supposed to be “Barbie”.
Theories have been put forward too (Picture: TikTok)
Barbie is, of course, the doll of the moment right now, with the Greta Gerwig-directed live-action movie currently in post-production, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling as the classic plastic duo.
Speaking about the project recently, Greta admitted to feeling ‘terror’ over the movie because she was so excited by it and described it as a potential ‘career ender’.

She explained: ‘I had what felt like vertigo when starting to write it, like, where do you even begin? What would be the story? I knew that it would be really interesting terror. Usually that’s where the best stuff is.’
‘Anything where I’m like this could be a career ender – I probably should do it,’ she added to singer Dua Lipa on her At Your Service podcast.
