A young Twitch streamer has gone a step too far in trying to make his Dota 2 cosplay as accurate as possible.
It’s not uncommon for Twitch streamers to pull off wild stunts in the hope of going viral or because they’re following the latest online trend.
Not long ago a watermelon exploded all over Meowko’s room and left her covered in bits, because she put way too many rubber bands around it after seeing a TikTok trend. Another streamer even went as far as going to town with her partner, though we’re not sure what the reason behind that was.
This time, Twitch streamer Rostislav_999 simply wanted to cosplay as one of his favourite characters, though things didn’t go exactly as planned.
A clip from one of his recent videos went viral, in which he decided to set his hands on fire to emulate the effect that’s seen on Ember Spirit from Dota 2.
The hero is well-known for his fiery swords that have detrimental effects on anyone that attempts to go near him.
That’s who he was trying to cosplay as (pic: Dota 2)
During his stream, Rostislav_999 is seen applying a flammable solution – possibly hairspray – onto his gloves, which he then sets on fire with a lighter.
He then quickly tries to reach for the sword props he prepared and even manages to hold them for a few seconds before the flames reach his skin.
Whether they’re fireproof gloves or not isn’t clear (Rostislav_999 doesn’t speak English) but the rest of him certainly isn’t.
Many cosplayers are so dedicated to creating accurate, IRL versions of their favourite characters that they learn skills such as sewing, special makeup effects, and even forging their own weapons.
However, it seems like in this case, Rostislav_999 tried to go for the timesaving method of setting his hands ablaze.
More: Twitch
As more and more people saw the video, many speculated that he’ll receive a ban from Twitch for breaking its guidelines.
Although presumably the streamer didn’t mean to harm himself, his video could be in violation of one of the platform’s rules that prohibits activity that may ‘endanger your life, lead to your physical harm, or encourage others to engage in physically harmful behaviour.’
So far, his channel appears to be up and running, though many other streamers have been banned for less in the past.
I would love to hear from him how long he have expected to have time for posing with hands on fire xD
