I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! tested Boy George with plenty of challenges, but he admits that threats to walk out were never actually going to happen.

Soon after he was reunited with his sister Siobhan after being the fourth star eliminated, the siblings spoke about the experience, and Boy George let her in on a little secret, which of course was captured on camera for us all to see.

‘I didn’t want to walk out, that was never an option but I did threaten it a few times,’ he told her.

However he acknowledged that he had stuck it out far longer than he would have years ago, and that his diva days were long behind him.

‘20 years ago, I would’ve been out of there on day one,’ he added.

‘I’d have said “where’s Elton John, get me a helicopter, send me a Versace helicopter”.’

The exchange will be seen on I’m A Celebrity’s Coming Out Show, which airs on Thursday night.

It was seeing former health minister Matt Hancock walk into the jungle that made the musician say he might leave for the first time after he became visibly emotional a few weeks back.

Boy George explained that his mum was unwell during the pandemic and that if he had lost her, he would have walked out upon seeing Hancock.

‘I feel like, I don’t want to be sitting here like I’m having fun with him,’ he said at the time.

‘It’s difficult for me because, you know, had something happened, if my mum had gone, I wouldn’t be here now.

‘I would have gone when he walked in.’

While it wasn’t captured on camera there was reportedly also another incident where he threw an almighty temper tantrum and again said he was on his way out after being disgruntled about not being able to hitch a ride in a golf buggy after a particularly exhausting Bushtucker Trial.

It seems like these threats aren’t anything new for Boy George though, after he told his campmates that he once threatened to leave Culture Club if they didn’t release Karma Chameleon.

Luckily they decided to follow his lead, and the song went on to become a bona-fide hit.

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The Coming Out Show airs tomorrow at 9.15pm on ITV.
