If there’s one person Piers Morgan probably could have done without bumping into at Heathrow airport, it’s Matt Hancock.
The former health secretary has seemingly touched down in the UK after his widely-criticised stint in the jungle. Meanwhile, Piers headed home from Qatar after covering some of the World Cup.
The TalkTV host tweeted: ‘Just bumped into Matt Hancock at Heathrow. I told him I’d been giving him a good kicking the entire time he was in the jungle. He said he knew. It was the purest personification of #Awks.’
Safe to say, Piers hasn’t held back on Hancock’s appearance on the show.
When he was first announced as a campmate alongside comedian Seann Walsh, Piers said on his show: ‘He’s been filmed eating camel penis, cow’s anus, and a sheep’s vagina, apparently all in the name of promoting dyslexia awareness.
‘Yeah, right,’ he scoffed, saying it was ‘all about promoting himself’ and gaining a large cheque for his appearance.

Piers raged: ‘Matt Hancock shouldn’t be taking part in I’m A Celebrity, he’s not a celebrity, he’s a shamed politician who caused thousands of deaths with his decision-making and had to resign in disgrace just a few months ago. He shouldn’t be cashing in on all this.’
Then, when it became clear that Hancock had reached the final of the show, Piers tweeted: ‘That Matt Hancock, who should be doing his job as an MP, may win I’m A Celebrity after his appalling handling of the pandemic & shameful sacking for breaking his own lockdown rules, is a damning indictment of the celebrification of politics & the British public’s amnesia.’
Despite the outrage surrounding his appearance, Hancock came third, just behind Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner, and former Lioness and newly-crowned Queen of the Jungle Jill Scott.
Speaking to presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly following his exit, Hancock recognised that his stint in camp was ‘controversial’ given he is a serving MP.
‘I know that it was controversial me coming here, I know some people said people in your position shouldn’t put themselves in embarrassing situations,’ he said.
‘But we’re all human and we all put ourselves in it.’
I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! The Coming Out Show airs tomorrow at 9.15pm on ITV.
