Coronation Street actor Alexandra Mardell has become the third celebrity to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas special 2022.
The BBC juggernaut show’s official Twitter account announced the 29-year-old would be joining the festive extravaganza on Thursday morning.
Sharing a Christmassy snap of the 29-year-old, they wrote: ‘Taking the trip from Weatherfield to Elstree for our Christmas Special, it’s Corrie star Alexandra Mardell #Strictly.
The 29-year-old will be among the six stars hoping to impress with their tangos and waltzes out on the ballroom floor in the show hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
The Vera actor will be battling it out against podcaster Rosie Ramsey and Radio 1 DJ Rickie Haywood-Williams, with three further names set to be announced in due course.
Each of the six couples will perform a Christmas-inspired routine with the hope of impressing the judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and head Judge Shirley Ballas.
While the BBC is keeping schtum about the exact details of the annual event, it has been rumoured former judge Bruno Tonioli will be making a comeback.
However, in a twist, the 66-year-old is thought to not be performing a dance routine but belting out a tune.

A source told the Daily Mail: ‘Bruno loves to sing. He did an opera album called An Italian Romance back in 2016 and who knows, it might turn into a new career for him.’
It wouldn’t be the first time Bruno has belted out a tune on Strictly, having performed a number on the show’s opening episode in 2019.
