John Krasinski’s Jack Ryan is on the run as the Tom Clancy adaptation returns for a highly anticipated third season.
The series will follow the CIA agent as he goes rogue, becoming an international fugitive racing against the clock to prevent global catastrophe.
According to the synopsis of the upcoming third season of the action-thriller series, Jack is working as a CIA case officer in Rome, when he is tipped off that the Sokol Project (a secret plan to restore the Soviet Empire) is being resurrected more than 50 years after it was thought to have been shut down.
Jack embarks on a mission to confirm the intelligence, but (as viewers may expect) things quickly go awry, and he is wrongly implicated in a larger conspiracy.
Accused of treason, with a Red Notice out for his arrest, Jack is forced to run from his own government, if he has any hope of uncovering the rogue faction before it’s too late.
The trailer sees him fleeing and crisscrossing across Europe as he is hunted by former allies and new enemies alike, as Jack races against the clock to stop the cascade of destabilising conflicts from leading to global catastrophe.

Alongside Jim Halpert actor John, Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly reprise their roles as CIA Officer James Greer and former CIA Officer Mike November, respectively.
Also joining the cast this season are Nina Hoss as Czech President Alena Kovac and Betty Gabriel as CIA Rome Station Chief Elizabeth Wright.
John follows in the footsteps of Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Chris Pine, all of whom have played some form of Tom Clancy’s action hero.
‘I was definitely terrified to take on a character that’s been done this many times before by awesome actors,’ John told Metro.co.uk back when he took on the role.

‘Weirdly, in my opinion I kind of get a free pass because it’s long-form storytelling.
‘The fact we’re doing it on television is great because, not only is my take on the character different, but the whole take on the character is different.
‘We really get to investigate the character in detail which we weren’t able to do before.

‘One of the biggest reasons I signed onto the show was the showrunners’ pitch was, “Maybe movies isn’t the best place for Jack Ryan because the books are so detailed.”
‘There’s so much to mine out of it, so in eight episodes we really get to play with Jack Ryan in a way we haven’t seen.’
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season three premieres December 21 on Prime Video.
