Strictly Come Dancing star Helen Skelton has revealed she’s shed tears backstage over her co-stars after they’re voted out of the competition.
The former Blue Peter presenter, 39, has won the hearts of the nation over recent weeks while also scoring high from the judges with pro partner Gorka Marquez.
Having made it to Friday’s quarter-finals, in which the pair are showcasing their couple’s choice routine, Helen earlier teased her ‘extreme’ moves as she prepares to wow judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke once again.
Appearing backstage before the live show with co-star Hamza Yassin on Friday’s It Takes Two, Helen opened up on how hard it is seeing her fellow Strictly contestants leave each week.
‘I cry every single time someone leaves,’ she admitted.
‘I didn’t think people would become good friends, you know when people, say “Oh I just love everyone in it,” I think, “No, you’ve known them five minutes.”
‘You have this weird, unique, shared, fabulous experience.’

She jokingly added to Richie Anderson: ‘How many times did I phone you when you’d left?’
Helen and Spanish partner Gorka will be dancing in a theatre/jazz style to Mein Herr from Cabaret tonight and they’re pulling out all the stops for the glitzy number, with props and even backing dancers.
Chatting to The Telegraph ahead of the quarter finals, she offered an insight into what it’s been like in the training room.
‘I’ll be going full-on Sally Bowles with a hat, a chair and some backing dancers,’ she began.
‘This is total escapism for me and I am being put into positions I never thought possible. There’s definitely been moments this week when I’ve wondered what’s happening.

‘In training, you try out some extreme stuff and then pare it back to what you know you can do for the live show.’
She added: ‘Early this week, I had my stilettoed leg on a man’s shoulder and my other leg in someone’s bum cheek. One of the dancers said to me, “Just try not to get your heel stuck in his corset,” which is a sentence I never thought I’d hear.’
Strictly Come Dancing 2022 continues tonight at 8pm on BBC One.
