Fans of Firefly Lane were left heartbroken when season 1 ended with a rift between former besties Tully Hart (Katherine Heigl) and Kate Mularkey (Sarah Chalke).

The Netflix drama charted the decades-long friendship between the pair as they supported one another through career highs and lows and painful heartbreaks.

But the dramatic finale saw their seemingly unbreakable relationship turn sour, with Kate making it very clear the TV host wasn’t welcome at her father’s funeral.

After Kate’s hostility towards her former best pal, viewers were left scratching their heads as to what went down between the pair, with the reason behind their bust-up not revealed in season 1.

The latest instalment of the hit series has just landed on the streaming platform, however, and it finally gives us answers about what Tully did to end her unshakeable friendship with Kate.

In the opening episode of Firefly Lane we learn that there has been accident during a conversation between Kate, her brother Sean (Jason McKinnon) and her daughter Marah (Yael Yurman).

It’s later revealed that it was a car accident and that Tully was involved, as a flashback sees the presenter unconscious in a car, with medics rushing to the scene to treat her.

Towards the end of season 2, further details about the horrifying incident come to light as viewers learn Tully wasn’t the only person hurt in the crash.

In episode 7, a grounded Marah disobeys her mother’s punishment and sneaks out to stay with Tully, where she begins to receive messages from her crush.

A persuasive Marah then begs her godmother to let her go to the movies with her pal and she soon relents, allowing Marah to head to town.

But things take a dark turn as Marah gets ditched by her friend and is left alone at a fraternity party, where she calls Tully to pick her up.

As Tully drives Marah back to her pad, another car, which runs a red light, smashes into them, with the pair both suffering injuries in the collision.

Kate is further horrified when she learns that Tully, who gets arrested for drink driving after being treated in hospital, was traveling under the influence.

While Marah tries her best to patch up her mother and Tully’s friendship, Kate is having none of it, saying she cannot forgive her for putting her daughter’s life in danger.
