Strictly Come Dancing is a Saturday night staple, so a few fans totally forgot it had switched days this week and have been trying to catch up to avoid any spoilers.

The schedule of the show had to be moved around this weekend, from Saturday to Friday, to accommodate the World Cup 2022 in Qatar.

On Friday night, the six remaining celebrities competed in a musical special, which included a tribute to the late Irena Cara, who died earlier this week.

Kym Marsh and partner Graziano Di Prima returned to the ballroom after a week away and paid homage to her with a Cha Cha performance to Fame.

However, some fans didn’t seem to get the memo and totally forgot it had changed nights.

They quickly realised their mistakes upon seeing people chatting about what went down on social media.

So no one was going to tell me Strictly was on Friday instead of Saturday!!?! #Strictly pic.twitter.com/jcnXSoYyfm

Hang on! Was #Strictly on the telly last night????

Waking up to see #Strictly was on last night and wondering if I’ve managed to sleep for 36 hours and miss Saturday completely

‘How come I only discovered what went down after the event,’ one person pondered on Twitter.

Others meanwhile joked that a game of football didn’t seem like that big a deal to change a whole Strictly schedule.

Can’t believe #Strictly was moved to accommodate some game of kickball

Missed it, my daughter was so disappointed as she loves musicals and Strictly. Please never again on Friday, no football match is more important than BBC Strictly Come Dancing

Well. I forgot it was on. So of course I’m here at 4am catching up on iplayer because I can’t sleep in a world where I know there are #Strictly dances I haven’t watched 😵‍💫 Can we just say: Helen. Skelton. What a performance!! For me, that just made the series 🥳🥳

Others tried to watch a replay before too much about the show came out and totally ruined the watching experience for them.

The revised schedule also means the results show also airs early this weekend and will kick off from 5.40pm on Saturday evening.

The competition is now coming down to the pointy end, with those remaining being Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, Kym Marsh, Molly Rainford and Will Mellor.
