The Witcher: Blood Origin trailer drops featuring an unexpected character making a surprise return-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

The Witcher: Blood Origin trailer has officially dropped, and after all the battles, magic and chaos that unfolds, a surprising character has returned.

That’s right, Jaskier’s back, and although he looks quite different to his ballad days, the Bard looks to be key to the narrative.

This time, he’ll be ‘singing a story back to life,’ and not the catchy Toss A Coin tune fans know all too well.

However, the series is set to take place more than 1,000 years before Geralt’s and Jaskier’s adventures, so it’s uncertain how he plays into the narrative yet, although, it may have something to do with the ‘tears between worlds’.

The clip launches ahead of the four-part series premiering in a matter of weeks, featuring the seven heroes fighting the magic sweeping through the world.

In one scene, Fjall (Laurence O’Fuarain) asks his sworn enemy Elie (Sophia Brown) how he can ever trust her, as she replies: ‘By the blade.’

‘It all began 1,200 years ago in the Elven Golden Era,’ Minnie Driver’s narrator begins, continuing: ‘before the arrival of humans and monsters in the world.’

Amongst the political uncertainty and the wars that follow in the trailer, a monster lunges out with a mysterious connection to Sir Lenny Henry’s character Chief Sage Balor, who says: ‘My beast has done well.’

The trailer comes amid rising anticipation for the new series as well as the fourth series of The Witcher, which will not be featuring Henry Cavill in the lead role.

Instead, Superman star Liam Hemsworth will be playing Geralt of Rivia, and said that he will be ‘laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.’

Sharing the news on social media, Henry wrote: ‘In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.’

The Witcher: Blood Origin lands on Netflix on December 25.
