Strictly Come Dancing 2022 is nearing its final, with just five couples remaining in the race for the Glitterball trophy.

So far this season we’ve seen the series pay tribute to the BBC’s 100th anniversary, return to the Blackpool Tower Ballroom for the first time since 2019, and dish up its annual movie and Halloween specials, as well as give us some genuinely sizzling routines.

But it all changed for this week’s quarter-final as the show moved out of its regular Saturday night slot, and aired on Friday night instead, with the results show moved to Saturday night.

So why isn’t Strictly on tonight? Here’s what you need to know…

Why isn’t Strictly Come Dancing on tonight?

Strictly Come Dancing has had to change its schedule this week due to the World Cup.

Last night BBC One showed live coverage of the clash between Argentina and Australia, which began at 6.20pm – around the time that strictly usually airs.

Therefore, the Saturday night show was moved forward to Friday this week to make way for the match.

The results show was then aired on Saturday night at 5:40pm, just ahead of the match, hence why there is no show on tonight.

Next week’s semi-final show will also be affected by the World Cup, and will air on Sunday December 11 at 7:15pm.

The show will see the five remaining couples battle it out for a place in the grand final, on Saturday December 17.

The results show will then air on Monday December 12 at 8:15 until 9pm

Meanwhile the knockout stages of the World Cup continue tonight, with England facing their next match, against Senegal.

You can watch live coverage of that game on ITV from 6pm.
