Jamie Dornan has responded to rumours he could soon earn his license to thrill as James Bond.
The heartthrob, star of the racy Fifty Shades franchise, was neither shaken nor stirred by speculation he is a candidate to replace Daniel Craig as 007.
‘Of course, it’s nice to be in those conversations. If you’re an actor of a certain age who’s had a good year, there’s an inevitability about it,’ Jamie shrugged.
But the Northern Irishman is putting his Money(penny) on film bosses going with an unknown talent instead, musing: ‘They’ll probably replace Daniel with somebody who’s never been on one of those lists.’ Perhaps it’s a safer bet he will one day play a superhero – given his pals Andrew Garfield and Charlie Cox have already suited up, as Spider-Man and Daredevil.
‘I’d definitely be interested – though you don’t hear a lot of good things about the comfort of those suits,’ Jamie said.
The Bafta nominee, who used to room with Andrew and Charlie, reflected: ‘It’s weird how all the American superheroes are British. Back then, we were all young actors from the other side of the pond, trying to make it in LA. We were always going up for the same jobs, and none of us getting them.’
Jamie also talked about turning 40 to the Radio Times (Picture: Radio Times)
Jamie has no career regrets – including his breakout movie role as kinky Christian Grey.
‘If I was talking to you from a bedsit having not worked in seven years, it would be a different story. But I’m not,’ the dad-of-three told this week’s Radio Times. He also divulged that he had a hoot(er) turning 40 this year. ‘I feel great about it,’ he exclaimed. ‘I’m in a good place at work and at home – and I haven’t started sprouting hairs out of my nose yet!’
