Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler might be reuniting on screen once more, this time in a remake of Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
The pair have already starred in three movies together, The Wedding Singer (1998), 50 First Dates (2004) and Blended (2014), but if Drew has her way, we will see them together again in the future.
In the latest Drewbar segment on her talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew, 47, invited Adam, 56, on and they chatted about ideas for remakes of classic buddy comedies.
Drew then revealed that she and Charlie’s Angels co-star Cameron Diaz had been talked about remaking the 1987 movie, something that her and Adam had also spoken about before.
‘Her and I did discuss remaking Planes, Trains and Automobiles, and then I was like, “Well you know Adam and I talk about that”,’ she said.
‘Well, I also want to play John Candy,’ she added.

Sandler supported her idea, saying that Drew ‘could do a good Candy’.
However he did add that the late Saturday Night Live comedian Chris Farley, who died in 1997, could have also been a great casting choice as he used to walk around reciting lines.
‘You know who could do Candy the best? Farley,’ Sandler said.

‘He would walk around the office and say lines from Planes, Trains and Automobiles.’
For those yet to tune in, the movie follows high-strung marketing executive, Neal (Steve Martin) and goodhearted shower curtain ring salesman, Del (Candy) who become unexpected travel companions after their flight is diverted to Kansas just before Thanksgiving.
Over three days they have plenty of misadventures as they try and get Neal home to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving Day dinner with his family.
This isn’t the first time the former co-stars have floated the idea of reuniting on screen for a fourth time.

Back in 2020, they teased the possibility of making another flick together at the MTV Movie & TV Awards: Greatest of All Time Special.
During their virtual thank you speech, Drew stated: ‘It was so much fun to make a movie with you in every of the last three decades,’ to which Adam responded, ‘Yes, yes, and Drew, it’s 2020 so you know what that means…’
‘Everything sucks?’ she asked.
But Adam added: ‘Yeah that’s true… But also, it’s a new decade so we get to make another movie together.’

She then joked: ‘Right, well let’s wait until we find something amazing, we do have 10 years.’
Here’s hoping we hear more about another project soon.
The Drew Barrymore Show airs on CBS in the US.
