I’m a size 14-16 & my friend is petite – we compared all the best Primark Christmas dresses so you don’t have to

WE all want to feel a million dollars at our Christmas parties this December – but let’s face it, we could do without the price tag.

Which is why many of us, like Primark superfan Shaz Mc, 28, rely on high street favourites to keep up with the latest fashion.

Shaz and her friend Lucy had a great time trying out Primark’s latest festive offeringsShaz Mc

The contracts manager from Falkirk has exclusively shopped for clothes at Primark store since she was a teen, and now goes four times a week to get her fashion fix.

And to get into the festive spirit, this week Shaz – who is typically a size 14 to 16 – tried on some of the best Christmas looks they have to offer, along with her size 8 friend Lucy Elizabeth, 26.

Here, they compare how each outfit made them look and feel and share their verdict…

First up, was a long-sleeved midi-dress in a rather fitting ‘Quality Street’ purple hue.

This dress costs £22, and can be dressed up or downLucy Elizabeth

The friends both loved this dress, and found it flattering for both their figuresShaz Mc

Shaz says: “We both loved this dress!

“We weren’t sure at first but the material felt great on and it didn’t feel too tight.

“I tried on a size 16 and Lucy tried on a size 8 and we both felt it worked for both our figures.

“It could be dressed up and dressed down for both Christmas parties or a formal Christmas do.

“This cost £22 and I ended up buying it.

“Usually you’d pay a lot more for this type of silky material and the colour is just popping!”

Sensational sequins – but length hit a bum note

Next up the pair tried on a sparkling black and silver mini dress – but the length caused an issue.

Shaz McShaz worried the dress may end up revealing a lot more than she’d like[/caption]

The material and look got a thumbs up, but the length left a lot to be desiredLucy Elizabeth

Shaz says: “We tried the same sizes on but I felt this one was a bit too short for me as I’m tall.

“Lucy felt the same – we were both worried about our bums being out for the public to see!

“If they made this in a midi dress this would have got 10/10 from both of us as the material was lovely and felt great but the length just wasn’t ideal.

“This cost £18 and usually these are seen elsewhere for much more, so it is a bargain.”

Felt cheap

The next dress was one of the ones with an even cheaper price tag – but sadly it didn’t leave the pals feeling like a million dollars.

Shaz says: “We both didn’t like this dress as we both felt it wasn’t a great fit.

“It felt cheap and cost just £15 which would explain why, but the material was stretchy which was a bonus.

“The bag and shoes however we loved!”

Emerald green queens

This show-stopping swing dress was Lucy’s favourite and she ended up buying it – but it was popular with both pals.

Shaz says: “We both loved this dress!

“We felt it had ‘Abba vibes’ and it was a swing type dress, so plenty of room.

“I felt it would look good on any body type and feel this is a show stopper for Christmas and can be dressed up with bright coloured heels.

“This only cost £20 which is just a total bargain, especially for the quality.

“It reminded me very much of the Zara must-have dress they have brought out which is everywhere on TikTok!”

Pretty in pink

The last dress the pair tried was a sleeveless sequinned mini in an eye-catching deep pink.

Shaz says: “This dress we felt was very cute and the colour is probably one my favourite colours to wear at the moment.

“Lucy wasn’t as keen on the colour but she felt the dress was a lovely fit.

“I liked the dress but again I felt it was a bit short for me.

“This dress cost £18, we both rated this dress eight out of 10.”

Shaz adds: “We recommend everyone to get to Primark and get their Christmas outfits as they are so reasonable priced.

“Everyone deserves to feel amazing and celebrate Christmas with a bang this year and feel good within themselves.”
