Now, Claire Barratt might have been sent packing early on in The Traitors, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have her theories.
The businesswoman was one of 22 strangers taking part in Claudia Winkleman’s new BBC gameshow, aka the ultimate test of trust.
Claire, 43, was sadly murdered by Traitors Alyssa, Wilfred, and Amanda in episode 3, much to her disappointment.
As a result, she missed out on a potential £120k prize and wasn’t around long enough to conduct proper interrogations with those she suspected weren’t Faithfuls.
However, thanks to her history as a police officer and natural ability to analyse and think logically, the entrepreneur was able to ‘build a case’ against one person in particular in her head.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Claire began: ‘I had caught onto things. I always went into it just watching and storing information about what doesn’t add up. I do it with my children. I build a little case in my head without going, “You just said that and that’s weird!”, I won’t jump on something, I’ll store.’

Explaining how she doesn’t like to make ‘snap judgements’, Claire said she prefers to have all the facts before firing out accusations.
‘I’d already stored a little bit about Amanda [Lovett] and said nothing to anybody. I’d already started to build a case in my head as to why something was off, but it was too early to sit anybody down and plant a seed, that’s not me.
‘I’ll evaluate, I’ll gain the information, then I’ll say it when I have enough to argue my case and have it taken with credit.’
The TV star reckons her previous job in the police played a big part in helping her stay ‘cool’ and looking at things from various angles before arriving at a decision.

‘In my younger days, I’d be very quick to make snap judgements. Whereas, with my experience in the police and as I’ve aged, it was a case of looking at it from all angles because in the police you turn up to a job and you get two stories,’ she shared.
‘Sometimes, you have to make those quick decisions as to who’s telling the truth and who isn’t, but you’re not judge and jury. So my role in the police was to obtain the information and feed it back, but it was always about storing information.
‘So, when people said stuff, it was held in my head. There were things said that I could think, “That doesn’t add up”, so I’d bank it.
‘You can’t go into anything in policing with a hot head and be erratic and start making snap judgements because you’re trained not to do that. So it was quite easy for me to sit back and watch all the conversations and store things that I felt were relevant – but I never got chance to act on them!’
And while Claire was a Faithful through and through, she reckons she would’ve coped being on Amanda’s team and deceiving the rest as a Traitor.
However, detaching herself from the emotional connections she formed with her fellow cast members wouldn’t have been so easy.
‘I’d have cope with being a Traitor. I went in it to experience it as myself and, if I’m a Faithful I can do that because I’ve got nothing to hide. If I’m a Traitor, I can be myself but I’m watching what I’m saying, I’m watching how close I am to people, how I react to things, which could take away from why I was there.’
She admitted she was ‘glad’ to be a Faithful, but her tactics as a Traitor would’ve been to not be such a ‘comforting’ person.

‘I’d have to have been less emotive or I’d have got too drawn into everyone’s characters and felt bad. It would’ve really affected me having to murder people I’d gained close relationships with.’
But, Claire holds no resentment towards those on the Traitors’ team, and she’s very much enjoying watching along on the sofa, popcorn in hand.
‘Filming it, we knew it was gonna be good but watching it back we’re like… wow.’
The Traitors is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
