‘Where have these bath and shower scenes come from?!’ one perplexed viewer asked.

The Traitors viewers have become accustomed to huge levels of drama, backstabbing antics and tear-filled confrontation on the BBC competition that’s taken the nation by storm.

However, random shots of contestants relaxing in the bath or the shower are perhaps a less expected occurrence.

On tonight’s episode of the gripping series hosted by Strictly’s Claudia Winkleman, Tom Elderfield was eliminated after wrongly accusing fellow axed competitor Ivan Brett of being a Traitor.

Those weren’t the only shocks of the night, as Kieron Tompsett and Dr Amos Ogunkoya – who were believed to have been banished in the first episode – made jaw-dropping returns as part of an elaborate plan.

At the end of the programme, a newly-returned Amos was shown having a shower in an extremely sultry shot, dramatically wiping away water from his face.

Shortly afterwards, BMX athlete Matt Harris was seen from behind dropping his dressing gown on the floor, before stepping into a bubble-filled bath.

Several people watching the show were understandably confused by the out-of-place bathing sequences, which had no relevance to the series whatsoever.

‘Where have these bath and shower scenes come from?!’ one bemused viewer asked.

‘Filming them having baths and showers for no reason!!!! I love this very silly show!!!’ someone else remarked.

Whose decision was it to film Amos and Matt in the bath and shower, respectively 😂😂#TheTraitors

They had no right showing Amos showering and Matt getting in the bath 🙃 #TheTraitors

One person questioned how producers would have asked the contestants if they could film them stepping into the bath or the shower, while another stated: ‘Matt casually taking a candlelit bath whilst the traitors plot his murder is high camp tbh.’

Meanwhile, trainee lawyer Rayan, who’s competing on the show in the hope of winning a life-changing cash prize, joked: ‘For some reason, nobody asked me for a bath shot.’

Earlier on tonight’s episode, Ivan brought viewers to their knees with his ‘iconic’ exit line, when he poked fun at Tom’s career as a magician.

Following Tom’s convincing campaign to have Ivan booted out of the competition, the author said: ‘No hard feelings. I came here to play a game, and today that’s exactly what I got. This was fun. Tom – this was your big flourish, and here’s the prestige. That was not my card. I’m a Faithful.’

Ouch!

The Traitors returns tomorrow at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
