To the sofa!
All on demand for you this week, you lucky people (Picture: Metro.co.uk/Supplied)
We’re living the stream with a selection of on-demand telly to tuck into.
If it’s a faithful biopic about a couple of country music legends that whets your appetite, then check out Paramount+ this week.
Sticking with music (and Paramount+) – with fraternal feuding for some extra flavour – a certain Gallagher’s summer show at Knebworth is worth a click.
Meanwhile, Zac Efron is Down Under in the latest instalment of his series hunting green therapies and there’s a couple of creepy encounters on Netflix and All4.
Read on to find out which will make it to your viewing list over the next few days.
George And Tammy
Paramount+
Jessica Chastain and Michael Shannon play Tammy Wynette and George Jones (Picture: Paramount+)
Country music fans will lap up this classy telling of the rollercoaster romance between established star George Jones and rising talent Tammy Wynette, believably brought to life in fine performances from Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. The story might be a twang or two short of the full melodrama, but the performances paper over the cracks.
Episodes 1 & 2 available now. Then weekly.
Liam Gallagher Knebworth 22
Paramount+
Liam Gallagher’s Knebworth show was filmed this summer. Will Noel be tuning in? (Picture: Paramount+)
Post-Oasis the warring Gallagher brothers are engaged in a battle to show who’s top dog. Here Liam bags some bragging rights with a double helping: a film of his Knebworth show from this summer plus a background doc bigging up his star status. Noel will be fuming.
Available today.
Down To Earth With Zac Efron
Netflix
Zac Efron is on the hunt for healthy experiences for both him and the planet (Picture: Netflix)
What’s a Hollywood A-lister to do in the gaps between movies? You could do weird perfume ads, but impressively Zac Efron has chosen to boost his alt.green credentials by roaming the world for health-boosting experiences that help the planet. Series two finds him in Australia.
Available now.
Hot Skull
Netflix
Dystopian hell in the form of a vocal virus comes from Turkey (Picture: Netflix)
From Turkey comes a fresh twist on dystopian hell: a virus that’s transmitted by speech means everyone has to wear noise-blanking headphones to prevent being infected. One to watch on the daily commute while wearing, er, your headphones.
Available now.
Walter Presents: Partisan
All4
Blonde ambition from Sweden (Picture: All4)
There’s cult creepiness by the smorgasbord in this Swedish series that will appeal to fans of Midsommar, now dropping its second run. In an idyllic country setting, something subversive is going down – just who is recruiting the legion of oddly identical blonde followers?
Available Friday.
