Whoopi Goldberg has revealed that she’s banned any unauthorised biopics being made after her death with a clause in her will.
The Sister Act star was part of the panel on The View when the topic of the film Blonde, about Marilyn Monroe, was raised.
The panel debated whether films like Blonde ‘exploit’ their subjects and how much of a difference it makes if the subject of the film is dead.
Sunny Hostin said: ‘It sounds macabre but I was speaking to Whoopi and I was saying, she’s such a famous person, when she passes away, people are gonna make films.’
‘Actually, they’re not,’ Whoopi, 67, responded. ‘They’re not gonna make films because in my will, it says, “Unless you speak to my family, try it! Try it!”‘
This year, a film about Whoopi’s life, directed by Roxane Schlumberger, was released.
Titled Whoopi Goldberg: The Winning Act, it follows the star’s life and career, from New York to Broadway, to achieving EGOT status.
The clause in her will is definitely not the first example of Whoopi holding her own in Hollywood, with the actress and comedian recently hitting out at a critic who accused her of wearing a fat suit in her film Till.

Whoopi plays Alma Carthan, Emmett Till’s grandmother in the film which follows Mamie Till’s fight for justice after the lynching of her 14-year-old son in 1955.
Discussing the film on The View, she explained: ‘I have to say something because there was a young lady who writes for one of the magazines, and she was distracted by my fat suit in her review.
‘I’m just going to say this, I don’t really care how you felt about the movie, but you should know that was not a fat suit, that was me.’
Whoopi continued: ‘I assume you don’t watch the show, or you would’ve known that was not a fat suit.
‘But I just want to let you know that it’s ok to not be a fan of a movie, but you want to leave people’s looks out.
‘So just comment on the acting, and if you have a question, ask somebody.’
