Pretty Deadly will face their toughest challenge to date as they face WWE legends The New Day at NXT Deadline this weekend.

The flamboyant pairing of Kit Wilson and Elton Prince are over 90 days into the second reign with the NXT Tag Team Titles, and the champions find themselves days away from a match against the decorated duo of Kofi Kingston Xavier Woods.

The champs tried to deliver a special Christmas story to fans on Tuesday night’s show, but they were eventually interrupted by The New Day to an incredible ovation from the crowd.

‘First and foremost, what an amazing story? Was that not a great story? Wow,’ Kofi joked, while Xavier added: ‘But boys, boy, boys, the story that we wanna hear talks about who you’re gonna be defending those titles against this Saturday at Deadline.’

They pointed out that Pretty Deadly claim to have beaten everybody, but they’re yet to test themselves against The New Day – which also includes Big E, who is currently recovering from a broken neck.

Kofi laid down the challenge for this weekend, and there could be a chance for the duo to make history despite The Usos recently beating their record reign as tag champions on the main roster.

If Kofi and Xavier win, they’ll become the only other team besides The Revival – now known as FTR in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) – to hold the Raw, SmackDown and NXT Tag Team Titles.

Pretty Deadly ended up throwing fists but their soon-to-be opponents quickly took charge, throwing them into the Christmas tree and lobbing presents at them.

The New Day slammed a gift over each other their rivals’ heads before hitting superkicks to send them out of the ring to the arena floor.

The tag title clash is a welcome last minute addition to what is already a stacked Deadline card, with Apollo Crews challenging Bron Breakker for the NXT Championship, and Alba Fyre getting her hands on Isla Dawn in a grudge match.

The night will also see the debut of the Iron Survivor Challenge, with a men’s and women’s lineup for the brand new match type with the winners earning themselves a shot at their division’s respective top title.

WWE NXT Deadline airs Saturday (December 10) at 1am on the WWE Network.
