A new glitch in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has caused shinies to spawn where you wouldn’t normally expect them to.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has seen quite a few bugs and glitches in its first weeks, with some players finding them hilarious and others demanding refunds from Nintendo.

Some issues were so bad they required Nintendo to address them through a patch update, as well as issue an apology to disappointed fans.

One of these glitches even allowed you to duplicate shinies, which are extremely rare versions of pokémon with white sparkles around them.

To take advantage of this exploit, you first need to spot and catch shiny pokémon around Paldea, which is both easier and weirder than first assumed.

A new glitch was documented during a stream where player RyanWasTaken was hunting for shinies, when he came across some hiding in the most unexpected of places… inside walls.

He posted a short clip on Twitter and it quickly went viral, as more and more players were keen to try the trick.

The streamer even came across a rare Frigibax which he, fortunately, managed to catch, despite a wall sitting between them.

‘Check your walls chat, they’re in the walls,’ streamer RyanWasTaken suggested to his viewers, once his pokéball stopped moving.

To do this trick, you’ll just need to stand near a wall, whether it belongs to a building or it’s just the rocky interior of a cave, and manoeuvre your camera right and left, until it reveals what’s hidden.

Other players also posted videos showing the glitch in action, with one aspiring pokémon trainer even finding a Pupitar living inside a rock.

Though this pokémon is a rock-type creature, it doesn’t mean that it literally lives insides rock, since its pokédex entry describes it as simply living in caves.

Another player was driving their Miraidon around Area Six of the south province when they stumbled upon a group of pokémon hidden inside a boulder in the area.

From the video, you can see they were northeast of Alfornada, which is a town located in the lower left corner of Paldea.

So, now that you know where shinies have been hiding all along, why not jump on either Pokémon Scarlet or Violet and give this new trick a go?

You never know what’s hiding inside the walls…
