Jackie Chan has confirmed that Rush Hour 4 is officially on the way, more than 24 years after the first film was released.
The action-comedy franchise saw the 68-year-old appear as Hong Kong Chief Inspector Yan Naing Lee, opposite Chris Rock’s LA-based, loud-mouthed detective, James Carter.
They were initially thrown together in the first movie, in 1998, in which the two officers teamed up to crack an international crime syndicate.
It became an instant hit thanks to the chemistry of the leads, and spawned two sequels – with the most recent blockbuster hitting the big screen in 2007.
A fourth instalment has previously been discussed but Chan confirmed that talks were ongoing for what their next adventure could entail.
Appearing at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday, various media outlets report that he announced: ‘We’re talking about part four right now.’

Although he wouldn’t go into detail, he added that he was due to meet with the director to discuss the script.
It is not clear who will be helming the flick, but Brett Ratner was behind all three of the previous films.
In 2017, the filmmaker was accused of sexual harassment and misconduct by seven women – including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.
He fiercely denied all allegations, but has not directed a film since 2014.

The first Rush Hour film saw Chan and Tucker’s characters attempting to find the kidnapped daughter of the Chinese consul, and became a firm hit with fans.
Following the success, they reunited for a second movie in 2001, taking their double-act to Hong Kong before hitting the streets of Paris for a third outing in 2007.
A decade after this, Chan insisted that we’d be seeing more from the pair, but teased that Rush Hour 4 would be very different from the previous efforts.
‘It’s pretty good. Different. It’s not like [about a] drug dealer, this is not like [about] fake money, [it’s] something different…,’ he told Extra’s Mario Lopez.
‘I don’t want to always do the same thing again, again.’
‘Last seven years, the script was no good,’ he added: ‘But yesterday everybody agreed, “Yes, that’s the script.”’
Unsurprisingly, fans were living for Chan’s latest update, with a Twitter user insisting: ‘I will watch Rush Hour 4 the day it hits theaters’
Professional gamer Optic Trippy agreed: ‘Jackie Chan supposedly confirmed Rush Hour 4 is in the making… LIFE IS GOOD.’
