Kate Winslet has spoken out on the possibility of Mare of Easttown coming back for a potential season 2, after the first batch of episodes won critical acclaim.
Last year, the Titanic star appeared in the seven-episode drama opposite Guy Pearce and Evan Peters, telling the tale of a detective who takes on the task of investigating a murder in a small town near Philadelphia.
Viewers were on the edge of their seats leading up to the incredibly chilling ending, with the show earning 16 nods at the Emmys, including four wins.
On tonight’s Graham Norton Show, Kate, 47, was quizzed on whether the crime drama could return… and she admitted that she is aware of the rumours of a second outing.
However, she couldn’t provide the confirmation that fans are so desperately hoping for of a reprisal.
‘I have heard the rumours but no decision has been made,’ she said, after being congratulated on her Emmy win for her performance as Mare Sheehan.

The Avatar: The Way of Water star continued: ‘It hasn’t been ruled out and there’s been no discussions at the moment. I also think, “How would you would top that?”’
During her appearance on The Graham Norton Show alongside Sir Lenny Henry, Jack Whitehall, Olly Murs and Nadiya Hussain, Kate was also quizzed about her relationship with director James Cameron.
She reunited with the filmmaker to join the Avatar franchise for the sequel, having last worked with him for the 1997 groundbreaking movie classic Titanic.

‘It’s nearly 27 years since Titanic and I was very young. Looking back so much gets twisted. Jim is an amazing man and all the good things I ever said about him were left out so it’s nice to be able to say how extraordinary he is and know people are going to listen this time,’ she said.
‘How he creates these stories is just mesmerising and he establishes a working environment that is so much fun, really collaborative and super experimental. It’s an amazing thing to be a part of and I walked away thinking, ‘I could do that again, and again, and again.’

The Oscar winner also shared the impressive skill she picked up during production, having learnt how to hold her breath for an astounding seven minutes.
‘It is a sport and I trained every single day for three weeks. It was an extraordinary experience and I loved it and got really good at it. I am so proud that I was brave enough to learn something new in my 40s. As a woman I felt so great about it and it made me feel really powerful,’ she shared.
The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.55pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Mare of Easttown is available to watch on Sky and NOW.
