Olly Murs has secured his fifth UK number one album thanks to the hufe success of new record Marry Me.
The Dear Darlin’ chart-topper, 38, released the new album on December 2, and just over a week later it has confirmed to have topped the charts.
Marry Me didn’t even have a fight for the top, instead easily entering right at number one – something Olly admits hasn’t exactly ‘sunk in’ yet.
It’s the former X Factor star’s seventh album, with just two not making it to number one in the UK – and, as he pointed out, it’s been a while since he clinched the top spot.
‘Wow, it’s been six years since I had a Number 1,’ Olly told OfficialCharts.com.
‘Thank you so much to all the fans, you lot have been absolutely amazing.

‘I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet, but a lot of hard work has gone into this. Get in!’
Olly’s success means last week’s number one album, Taylor Swift’s Midnights, has dropped one place to number two.
It comes amid some controversy over one track on the new album – I Hate You When You’re Drunk – which some listeners claimed came across as ‘controlling.’

Olly addressed the criticism on BBC Breakfast, admitting it was ‘upsetting’ but it was ‘not that intention’.’
He explained: ‘At the start of January, I had a New Year’s resolution I wouldn’t drink for a year.
‘And so I’ve been out and my friends, my family, different people [and I was like] “Oh my god, I hate you when you’re drunk.’

‘So when we wrote the song, it was never about (fiancée Amelia Tank) or anyone. It was just a song that we really related with at that time.’
In June this year, the singer announced that he and Amelia were engaged, having been together since 2019.
