She titled the Reddit post: “What my mother said the moment I was married.”

“It was my wedding day. We had just said the vows. We were walking back down the aisle,” the woman prefaced.

She continued by pointing out that her mother was wearing “leopard print pajama pants” on her big day.

Then she revealed what her mother said to her moments later.

She quoted what her mother said, writing: “It’s a good thing you had that miscarriage.

“Can you imagine how it would look to be wearing white with a toddler running around?” she added.

Pure white wedding dresses traditionally symbolize chastity, so the woman revealed that her mother was more happy that she had lost a child than her possibly bringing shame on their conservative and religious family.

This shocking and insensitive comment completed the entire post, which led to many threads of outraged comments by other Reddit users.

“The same mother in a few years will be saying: ‘I don’t know why my daughter doesn’t speak to me. All I did was love her.’” someone wrote.

The original poster replied, writing: “It’s been awhile and yep, she laments how she just doesn’t understand why we never speak anymore.”

After calling the mother an expletive word, another person said: “I hope you’re able to have some distance or peace from her.”

The original poster responded: “We havent spoken in years!! These comments are giving me such validation I must admit.”

“At least literally NOBODY asks why I don’t speak to her after this story,” she added.

And one person wrote a comment that led the woman to have a big revelation. They wrote: “Most brides who wear white have participated in activities which have the potential for pregnancy.”

They continued: “If the colours you wear are meant to indicate something about your sexual history, what on earth must leopard print represent?”

The woman responded, writing: “I am absolutely now annoyed at myself for never thinking that question about what leopard print represents then. ESPECIALLY considering her own Mormon upbringing.”

She added: “Why did I never see the hypocrisy on the exact outfit she wore to tell me that??? Thank you for that.”
