Piers Morgan has addressed the long-held claim that the root of his dislike for Meghan Markle is the fact that he ‘fancied’ her and that she ‘ghosted’ him before she wed Prince Harry.
However, in doing so, he also made an admission – that he forgot to publicly wish his own wife a happy birthday.
Awkward.
On Thursday December 8, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Netflix documentary was released on Netflix, detailing how the couple first got together by connecting on social media and the racism Meghan, 41, faced in the media when her relationship with Prince Harry, 38, came to light.
Coincidentally, the release date clashed with the birthday of Piers’ wife Celia Walden, who he’s been married to since 2010, with whom he shares one child.
Given how vocal Piers, 57, has been in the past speaking out against Meghan and Prince Harry amid their decision to step down as senior working members of the royal family, on the day the first part of the documentary series came out on the streaming platform, he tweeted multiple times expressing his disgust over it.

‘This is worse than Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Something I didn’t think was humanly possible,’ one of his tweets read.
The following day, the TalkTV presenter brought up the claim that has been made in the past about the reason why he appears to hold a grudge against the former Suits actress.
‘All the trolls raging that I only criticise Meghan Markle because I “fancied” her & then got upset when she ghosted me… have reminded me that I forgot to publicly wish my wife Celia a happy birthday yesterday. (And yes, she knows she lucked out…. 🤣),’ he wrote.

In his tweet, he also included several photos of his wife from a raunchy photoshoot, one of which showed her covering her front while topless.
Former professional footballer Peter Crouch responded to Piers’ tweet, referring to his own marriage with model Abbey Clancey as he wrote: ‘Ahhh a fellow puncher.’
On Friday, Piers also gave Meghan and Prince Harry’s documentary some free advertising by telling his eight million Twitter followers when they could watch the second part of the series when it arrives on Netflix.
‘Only six more days until the next time Meghan and Harry trash their families!’ he tweeted.
This week, Piers had Meghan’s half-brother, Thomas Markle Jr, on his TalkTV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, to share his views on the film.
Thomas said he found it ‘horrible’ how Prince Harry stated that Meghan ‘doesn’t have a father’, when the duke said in the documentary: ‘Of course, it’s incredibly sad what happened. She had a father before this, and now she doesn’t have a father.’
Speaking about their estranged relationship, Harry added: ‘And I shouldered that. If Meg wasn’t with me, then her dad would still be her dad.’
Harry & Meghan is available to watch on Netflix.
