Coleen Rooney is said to be ‘delighted’ about the upcoming Channel 4 drama, which follows the libel battle between her and Rebekah Vardy.

Telling the tale of the Wagatha Christie trial, a libel case that began in 2019 and concluded this summer in court, This Is England’s Chanel Cresswell and Harry Potter star Natalia Tena star as Rooney and Vardy respectively, with Michael Sheen playing Rooney’s barrister David Sherborne.

Vardy, 40, ended up losing the case against Rooney, 36, after the latter accused the former of leaking ‘false stories’ about her to the press, and now it’s all set to unfold on our screens.

After the judgement was delivered, Rooney said in a statement that she was ‘pleased’ the ruling went in her favour, and it’s now been said she’s ‘delighted’ that people will know ‘all the details’ of what really happened.

‘Coleen is actually really happy about the Channel 4 drama and is more than happy for it to be shown,’ a source said.

‘They are going off the transcripts and what actually happened in court so she is delighted everyone will see all the details of how it went down, because she came out on top.’

The insider continued to new! magazine: ‘Since the case, Rebekah has spoken out and said she was framed, so Coleen is happy for people to see what happened in court.’

They also added that Rooney maybe a ‘little bit worried’ about her portrayal on screen but ‘will probably be tuning in.’

Back in 2019 Coleen accused Rebekah of repeatedly leaking private information about her to a tabloid and revealed that she had been posting a series of false stories to her account to track down the culprit.

She eventually settled on her suspect and posted a lengthy statement to social media in October saying that the stories that had been leaked to the press had only been viewed by one person.

‘It’s… Rebekah Vardy,’ she famously wrote.

Metro.co.uk has approached Coleen Rooney’s reps for comment.
