Freddie Flintoff was taken to hospital on Tuesday morning after being involved in an accident while working on Top Gear, the BBC has confirmed.
The spokesperson for the Line of Duty broadcaster said in a statement the 45-year-old was injured at the test track while filming the car series on Tuesday morning.
They added to the PA News Agency: ‘Crew medics attended the scene immediately. He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.’
It had been reported the former England cricketer had been in a crash at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome before the public broadcaster confirmed the incident.
The dad-of-four sustained injuries while he was being filmed giving an opinion of the vehicle he was testing out for the long-running show’s review segment, it has been claimed.
The presenter’s injuries are thought to be ‘not life-threatening’, although he was ‘air-lifted’ to hospital.

A source told The Sun: ‘Freddie is in hospital after a crash on Top Gear.
‘He was driving on the track as normal. He wasn’t going at high speeds – it was just an accident that could happen to anyone.
‘All the usual health and safety measures were in place for filming too. Freddie was taken to hospital by air ambulance shortly afterwards.

‘His injuries are not life-threatening and he is receiving treatment. Filming has been postponed for now and all anyone cares about is Freddie recovering.’
The accident is not the first faced by Freddi since he began working on the show.
In February 2019, the presenter was involved in a minor incident when he crashed into a market stall in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
