Ellen DeGeneres has paid tribute to DJ Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss after his death at 40.
The beloved star most notably appeared on Ellen DeGeneres’ talk show, and also enjoyed a hugely successful dance career.
His wife Allison Holker confirmed the sad news of his death in a statement earlier today.
Taking to Instagram short after, DeGeneres shared a sweet photo of the pair backstage while remembering her close friend.
Alongside the Instagram post, she wrote: ‘I’m heartbroken. tWitch was pure love and light.
‘He was my family, and I loved him with all my heart. I will miss him.
‘Please send your love and support to Allison and his beautiful children – Weslie, Maddox, and Zaia.’
Boss came to fame in 2008, competing in So You Think You Can Dance – where he eventually ended as a runner-up.
He went on to become a judge on the talent show in 2022, and also starred in Step Up and Magic Mike XXL.
As well as this, he enjoyed a long-running stint on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, starting in 2014.
He was named executive producer from 2020 and remained in place until the series ended earlier this year.
Boss’ wife confirmed his death in a statement to People, writing: ‘It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into.
‘He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans.’

‘To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt.
‘I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honour his memory.
‘We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.
