Michael B Jordan has added his name a growing list of Hollywood stars keen to get involved with UK football as he joins the ranks at AFC Bournemouth.

The Premier League side announced the takeover by American businessman Bill Foley’s Black Knight Football Club on Tuesday and stated part of the minority ownership group was led by the Hollywood actor.

Bournemouth is the 35-year-old actor’s first investment in a sports club and he’ll be supported by Nullah Sarker, the co-founder of the Kosmos sports and entertainment group with the former Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Piqué.

Sitting 14th in the football league with 16 points from 15 games, the handover came after the club sacked Scott Parker as manager in August.

Speaking on their new owner from across the pond, the south-western club released a statement that said: ‘Bill is committed to increased investment in Bournemouth’s first team as well as the academy and fan experience at Vitality Stadium.’

With the Black Panther actor’s help the Premier League fixture will begin construction on a state-of-the-art training centre and increase their financial commitment to women and girls wanting to represent the side.

The award-winner hasn’t been the only famous face hungry for a bit of sporting action.

His commitment to the football club comes after Ryan Reynolds documented his takeover of Wrexham AFC in a Disney Plus series.

Welcome to Wrexham followed the actor as he learnt how to manage the club he bought with Rob McElhenney for roughly £2million.

The Welsh side play in the national league and were bought in the hopes of a miraculous rise to the top not unlike Ryan’s own Hollywood happy endings.

The star revealed his plans to propel The Dragons from the English fifth division through to the higher rungs of the football ladder in 2021.

David Beckham – while not American – also fancied himself a club owner and brought in cameras to capture his attempts at coaching the U14 Westward Boys’ team back from  relegation threats.

His series Save Our Squad saw the footballing legend return to the East London football pitches where he played as a child, this time on the other end of the whistle.
