Ben Shephard has revealed all (almost) by admitting that he almost turned to stripping as a student in a bid to earn some extra cash.

The Good Morning Britain presenter had his plans halted by his now-wife Annie though, who succeeded in dissuading him and a university friend from the plan.

The 48-year-old, who was recently credited by pal Chis Kamara with convincing him to do a documentary on his apraxia diagnosis, now agrees it probably wasn’t ‘such a good idea’ after all.

At the time he was studying dance and drama at the University of Birmingham, so likely did have a least the possibility of some moves up his sleeve.

Harbouring dreams of pursuing an acting career, before he broke though on the presenting scene in 1998 with Channel 4 spin-off show The Bigger Breakfast, Ben made the admission when he was asked what his dream role would have been.

Mentioning the new Magic Mike film, Magic Mike’s Last Dance, he revealed his early (almost) experience in the arena of adult dancing.

‘Me and Sam, my housemate – we decided to get some money. We were going to be strippers at the end of university time.

‘And we were going to do some of the sport teams’ end-of-season parties to get some money,’ he explained on That Gaby Roslin podcast.

He then said it had been Annie, who was also his girlfriend at the time, who ‘talked us out of it’.

The Tipping Point host also share that he and Sam very nearly performed for a lacrosse girls’ end-of-season party, which they were ‘all for’ with Ben even starting ‘to teach some moves’ to his friend.

However, Annie stepped in again, telling him: ‘You are kidding, aren’t you? You know you’re not going to do this. As much as this seems like a really good idea to the two of you, you are not going to do this.’

‘So that was one thing she stopped me doing. And she’s always so encouraging!’ he added.

The couple married in 2004, and are parents to sons Sam, 17, and 15-year-old Jack.
