Sandi Toksvig has revealed she has returned home in time for Christmas after getting struck down by bronchial pneumonia while doing a comedy tour in Australia.
The 64-year-old comic and presenter, known for hosting The Great British Bake Off and QI, shared a picture on Twitter of herself to announce the news.
She looked very cosy, wrapped in a scarf, and smiling while in a rocking chair with her pet dog.
She told her followers on Thursday: ‘Thanks to my beloved wife, I’m back home in time for Christmas. Best present ever!’
Sandi tied the knot with her partner Debbie, a psychotherapist, in 2007 in a civil partnership ceremony, before renewing their vows on the day same-sex marriage was introduced in England and Wales in March 2014.
In December that year, their partnership was converted into a marriage.

The TV star’s account said earlier this month that the New Zealand leg of her tour, which would have seen her travel to Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, was cancelled due to her being ‘admitted to hospital with bronchial pneumonia’.
Her show, titled Sandi Toksvig Live!, is described as being ‘an evening of comedy and curiosities’ in which she shares ‘little known facts’ and tells ‘tall tales’ alongside some ‘really silly jokes’.
She said last week that she was out of hospital and gave her ‘undying (literally) thanks to the amazing Australian health service’.
Bronchial pneumonia is a type of pneumonia featuring acute inflammation of the bronchi, the two large tubes that carry air from the windpipe to the lungs, and is often accompanied by inflamed patches in the nearby lobules.
Sandi announced her departure as co-host of Bake Off in January 2020, saying she wanted to focus on other projects.

She was replaced by Matt Lucas, who himself has now shared that he is ‘passing the baguette on to someone else’ just over a week ago, citing all the other projects he was busy with – including Fantasy Football League.

Judge Dame Prue Leith has since revealed that she has been fielding pitches from ‘everybody in telly’ for the gig, despite confirming she has no power when it comes to casting.
Remaining co-host Noel Fielding has been on the show since its move to Channel 4, after it was previously hosted by Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc on the BBC.
