The Traitors has become must-see TV in recent weeks, with those looking for an alternative to the World Cup tuning in in their millions to the suspense-filled reality show.

For those who haven’t yet succumbed, the series sees 22 contestants in a remote Scottish castle (Ardross Castle in Inverness to be precise), competing for a potential prize of £120,000.

But in order to be in with a chance of pocketing the cash, they have to identify which among their number are ‘traitors’ (as opposed to ‘faithfuls’) and eliminate them from the game – or risk becoming their next victim as they set about ‘murdering’ the others to keep their identity a secret.

With the nightly banishments of those accused of being traitors keeping the tension racked up – not to mention those regular murders being carried out – we’ve already said goodbye to a whole load of the contestants.

But just who has been eliminated from the series so far? Here’s what you need to know…

Who has been eliminated from The Traitors so far?

Here’s who we’ve already bid farewell to…

Aisha – murdered

Masters graduate Aisha Birley was first to be murdered by the Traitors, and expressed her disappointment at being out of the series so early.

‘Snakes. Absolute snakes them Traitors. Ah God! No one wants to be the first person to go do they? So, it’s hard. It’s rough,’ she said upon receiving her death warrant.

Claire – murdered

Second to go was Claire Barratt, the former police office officer, who later admitted she had started building a case against Amanda in her head.

‘I had caught onto things,'[ she told metro.co.uk. ‘I always went into it just watching and storing information about what doesn’t add up. I do it with my children. I build a little case in my head without going, “You just said that and that’s weird!”, I won’t jump on something, I’ll store.’

Nicky – banished

Accounts supervisor Nicky Wilding, who was open about wanting to use the prize money to fund a new bionic hand, was banished by the others on suspicion of being a Traitor – except she turned out to be a Faithful.

‘It was a shock that they picked me,’ she told metro.co.uk. ‘The reasons for which they picked me I thought were really weak, and I suppose that’s what irked me a bit because it was a real nonsensical reason, and it was herd mentality, but that’s how it works, isn’t it?’

Imran – banished

Imran tipped himself to win – but it didn’t happen (Picture: BBC)

Cambridge scientist Imran Nasim had been under suspicion from many of his fellow contestants since the off – and it didn’t take long for him to be banished – especially given Theo’s suggestion that he wanted to remove best friend Claire from the game by murdering her.

Sadly, despite starting the series by suggesting he would win in the opening challenge, he was one of the first to be voted off – only to shock the others when he was revealed as a Faithful.

Ivan – banished

Ivan had the finger of suspicion pointed at him by Tom (Picture: BBC)

Author Ivan Brett was banished early on in the game, with fellow contestant Tom Elderfield so convinced he was a Traitor that it led to one of the best exits from the series so far.

‘No hard feelings. I came here to play a game, and today that’s exactly what I got. This was fun. Tom – this was your big flourish, and here’s the prestige. That was not my card. I’m a Faithful,’ Ivan said, as Tom held his head in his hands in despair at his error.

John – murdered

John ended up in a roundtable confrontation before he was offed (Picture: BBC)

West End actor John McManus was offed by the Traitors after some dramatic roundtable moments which saw fellow Faithful Aaron Evans reduced to tears after he confronted him.

He later admitted he ‘cringed’ watching those moments back, telling metro: co.uk: ‘I’m very vocal, and so overall it was quite positive. Yeah, there’s things that you see or do, the way that it’s slightly edited that I think, “Oh gosh, I looked a bit like a tyrant,” in those moments.’

Tom – banished

Tom didn’t last long after accusing Ivan (Picture: BBC)

Having caused controversy among the contestants after admitting he was the boyfriend of fellow Faithful Alex, magician Tom Elderfield was swiftly banished from the show, after the others wrongly believed him to be a Traitor.

He later told metro.co.uk that while he had sussed Alyssa out to be a Traitor, Amanda had eluded him on account of Nicky’s early exit, saying: Writing Nicky on that board to blend in with the herd is so much easier said than done, and it was from that moment that I would never, ever have guessed Amanda.’

Matt – murdered

Matt was the fourth victim (Picture: BBC)

BMX athlete Matt Harris was left heartbroken after learning that Alex – whom he was attracted to from the start – was in a relationship with Tom, but he didn’t have long to ponder the matter after he became the Traitors’ fourth murder victim.

He called his time on the show ‘amazing’, saying to metro.co.uk: ‘Everyone in there thought I’m way cleverer than I actually am. People think I’m well smart!’, he laughed before adding he had ‘no idea’ all the way through who the real Traitors were.

Alyssa – banished

The contestants finally managed to see off a Traitor when they chose to banish Alyssa Chan from the group – with the business student tearfully confessing her status to the others after her fellow Traitors Wilfred and Amanda also voted for her to be banished.

The 21-year-old admitted she had already been crumbling under the pressure, telling metro.co.uk: ‘All of the nerves, everything was real, just for different reasons than I portrayed’.

Rayan – banished

Rayan was wrongly suspected of being a Traitor (Picture: BBC)

Having weeded out one Traitor, the contestants were off the mark yet again when they banished trainee lawyer Rayan – who was quick to point out he was in fact a Faithful.

He later admitted that he had his suspicions about Amanda’s Traitor status all along – but said everybody kept quiet in case others didn’t share their opinion: ‘You need others to believe you, otherwise you’re just going to be murdered,’ he explained.

The Traitors continues on BBC One on Thursday night at 9pm.
