Australian TV presenter Candice Wyatt has opened up about a painful foot condition she’s suffering from, emphasising the severe impact it’s had on both her mental and physical health.
The news anchor claimed that she even ‘considered amputation’ at one point, before clarifying on her Instagram Story that she’s ‘not about to cut her foot off’.
In a post shared on the social media platform, Candice, who works for Melbourne’s Ten Eyewitness News, explained that she wanted to speak out after going ‘MIA’.
‘Almost 4 weeks ago, something in the ball of my left foot snapped while I was walking barefoot on floorboards. It had been a little sore in the lead up.. but nothing too bad,’ she recollected.
‘Suddenly, I couldn’t put weight on it at all. Since then I’ve seen doctors, surgeons, had CT scans (first pic), MRIs (second pic) Cortisone injections (third pic) and the list goes on. Turns out, I have Sesamoiditis.. which isn’t curable, but can be managed.
‘But on top of that, I have a third Sesamoid bone (the purple arrow points to it), which is abnormal (you should only have the two bones above it.) It’s likely I was born this way.. but why it may be causing me problems now, no one can explain. There’s a chance I may need surgery to remove it.’

Sesamoiditis is a condition that occurs when the sesamoid bones in the ball of the foot and the tendons have become inflamed.
The 40-year-old shared that she’s been using crutches for the past four weeks as a result, and ‘crawls in and out of the shower’ due to the debilitating condition.
‘I can’t do my normal job as a journalist, so I either have to present the News at the desk or produce from behind the scenes,’ she said, while also sharing the negative effect her agony has caused on her social life.

‘I’m exhausted from my mobility issues. I’m relying on my amazing circle of friends more than I ever thought I would and as a fiercely independent person, this brings me to tears. My morning routine of attending @fitnessxo is gone. I’m so totally out of whack and struggling to see a future through the fog, that it’s not even funny. I’ve considered amputation.’
Candice admitted that she felt ‘terrified of the unknown and what I will and won’t be able to do physically once a solution is found’, adding that she misses her ‘old life’.
Having expressed her gratitude towards her friends and her doctor, while urging people never to ‘underestimate the privilege of being healthy and able’, she shared a further post on her Instagram Story in response to the rush of support she received.

‘Overwhelmed by your hundreds of messages regarding my foot. A special thanks to those who have shared their own deeply personal stories with me.. I promise to try to get back to you all.
‘In the meantime, regardless of some things you may read online… I am not about to cut my foot off. I’m currently taking it out for a wine with friends #BungFootOnTour.’
