The Voice Kids host Emma Willis has revealed her daughter is desperate to audition for the talent competition, but ‘isn’t allowed’.

The 46-year-old is returning as host of The Voice Kids with Danny Jones, Pixie Lott, Will.i.am and brand new coach Ronan Keating.

Ahead of their return to our screens, Emma – who is married to Busted star Matt Willis – shared that her kids, despite their love to perform in the house, aren’t allowed on that stage.

Emma and Matt, who married in 2008, have three children together: Isabelle, 13, Ace, 11, and Trixie, six.

‘I have three kids that are all exactly the right age to audition for this show and they have been performing for as long as they could in the house, coming out of wardrobes, singing Let it Go because they’ve been brought up around that,’ she told Metro.co.uk and other press.

‘And we are very protective of them, we let them do certain things but we also want to make sure they’re measured.

‘My kid is desperate to go up on that stage, she asks me every time The Voice is on “When can I go and audition?”, and I’m like, “Well one you’re not allowed to because you’re my daughter, and two you’re not ready” and that’s my job as a parent to make sure they’re okay.

‘But my [other] daughter, she’s very ready, she’s got a fantastic voice, but I will still decide when she’s ready to do that.’

Talking about young children auditioning on the show, some as old as six, Emma added: ‘Ronan’s the same and Pixie has grown up herself doing this from child, so if you’re protected and have got the right people around you, you’ve just got to make sure that they understand it, and it’s fun, like a rollercoaster

‘And it gives them confidence and an insight into what they will maybe enter into and it gives them an understanding from a very early age rather than expecting the world and potentially not getting it.’

Talking about how hard it can be when the judges don’t turn their chairs around for some of the kids, Emma added: ‘The kids take it better than the adults.’

She continued: ‘For the grown-ups they’re like, “Oh my God this is make or break,” but for the kids it’s fun and this is the beginning of their long journeys so they come most of the time and see it as a thing, it’s Christmas and look at this thing and there’s chocolate, and it’s that kind of experience.’

The Voice Kids returns to ITV on Monday, December 26 at 8:30pm.
