Jenna Ortega has revealed exactly how she sequenced the now-viral dance in Netflix’s blockbuster drama Wednesday.
The 20-year-old plays the titular character in Tim Burton’s series, which follows her as tries to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a killing spree terrorising the town and solve a 25-year mystery involving her parents.
Also starring Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzman as Gomez and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Wednesday is a murder-mystery series based on The Addams Family.
As well as hanging out with Thing, and shooting lots of death stares, the You star was behind the iconic dance scene in the fourth episode, which has now taken social media by storm.
The Jane the Virgin actor appeared on Friday’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon during which she reflected on the colossal success of the show and that brilliant routine.
On offering to devise the choreography herself, Jenna said: I’ was kicking myself. I felt like such a fool. I’m not a dancer. I don’t do any of that. I’ve never I have no experience in that field. And then I didn’t sleep for two days.

‘I watched videos of Siouxsie and the Banshees…I found archival footage of Goth kids dancing in clubs in the 80s …just anything that I could get my hands on. And then on the day, I thought,” Alright, well, I’m just gonna do it.”
Jimmy, 48, asked: ‘Did you just go super long? Did you do it like a 20-minute dance? Or step by step is this is exactly what you planned?’
Jenna replied: ‘No, I knew there were certain things that I want to do. I paid homage to Lisa Loring, the first Wednesday Addams, I did a little bit of her shuffle that she does. And of course, they cut out of camera when I did do it. But it’s there – I know it is.’

The Stuck in the Middle performer also confessed she had no idea the dance would go viral, although she was warned by Netflix bosses.
She continued: ‘Netflix were telling me, “Oh, you know, Jenna, this is gonna be a thing on TikTok’.
‘And I thought, yeah, ok ok ok. Because I figured they’re excited, they’re getting hyped up – and then they were right.’
