Jennifer Lawrence appears to throw shade at X-Men director Bryan Singer: ‘I’ve seen the biggest hissy fits on set’-Jennifer McShane-Entertainment – Metro

Jennifer Lawrence knows what it is to work with difficult male directors and alluded to her former X-Men director Bryan Singer allegedly sitting in that camp.
During The Hollywood Reporter’s Actress Roundtable, the Oscar-winning actress was keen to point out how refreshing it was to work alongside female cast and crew members.
‘It was just so interesting to be on a female-led movie. We had a female director. The schedule made sense. There were no huge fights,’ she explained.
‘If an actor had a personal thing and wanted to leave early… we’d put our heads together and go, “Okay. How can we figure this out?” We disagreed, and we listened to each other.’
Lawrence, 32, said it was hypocritical to label female directors as ‘so emotional’ when she’s worked with male directors who are equally emotional – or worse – alleging her X-men director Singer as a prime example.
The Mother! actor starred in three of Singer’s X-Men films as Mystique: 2011’s First Class, 2014’s Days of Future Past, and 2016’s Apocalypse.

‘It did always just make us laugh about how we ended up with, “Women shouldn’t be in roles like this because we’re so emotional.”
‘I mean, I’ve worked with Bryan Singer. I’ve seen emotional men. I’ve seen the biggest hissy fits thrown on set,’ she continued, adding that it was nice to get a break from ‘toxic masculinity’, she claimed.

Female directors, she added, are the ‘calmest, best decision-makers I’ve ever worked with. I absolutely love working with female directors,’ she said.
The Silver Linings Playbook star wasn’t the only actress to claim to have issues with the director, 57.

Actress Halle Berry who played Storm in the superhero series, admitted she became ‘very angry’ with Singer on a number of occasions and said, ‘a few cuss words’ out of ‘sheer frustration’.
The 54-year-old explained that her behaviour had been prompted by what she alleged was Bryan’s apparent lack of focus on set.
Speaking to Variety, Berry admitted: ‘Bryan’s not the easiest dude to work with. I mean, everybody’s heard the stories – I don’t have to repeat them – and heard of his challenges, and what he struggles with.’
‘I would sometimes be very angry with him,’ Berry continued. ‘I got into a few fights with him, said a few cuss words out of sheer frustration.
‘When I work, I’m serious about that. And when that gets compromised, I get a little nutty.’

Berry’s comment came a year after The Atlantic alleged that Singer sexually assaulted four men while they were under-age.
Singer repeatedly denied the claims. At the time, he called the report ‘a homophobic smear piece’ and has maintained his innocence.
