Tom Hanks stepped out in London to celebrate his latest film – and brought the family along with him.

The 66-year-old actor stars in the title role in the upcoming movie A Man Called Otto, and his son Truman plays Hanks’ younger self in the movie.

Tom and his son were joined by the actor’s wife, actress and producer Rita Wilson at a photocall for the film at the Corinthia Hotel in London on Friday.

The Forrest Gump actor donned a smart black velvet jacket over a dark shirt and jumper for the event.

Rita, 66, who is a producer on the film, wore a black high-neck jumper and a leather midi-skirt paired with a black studded belt and eye-catching silver heels.

The couple was accompanied by son Truman, 26, one of their two children, who looked relaxed in a dark grey suit.

The pair also share a son Chet Hanks in addition to Hanks’ two children from his marriage to the late actress Samantha Lewes, Colin and Elizabeth.

A Man Called Otto, which is set for release early next year, is based on the best-selling novel by Fredrik Backman, A Man Called Ove.

The film follows Otto Anderson – played by the Castaway star – a disgruntled man who no longer sees purpose in his life following the loss of his wife.

His son is not an actor, Tom explained on The Graham Norton Show, but he did warn his son that if he chose to do the film, he’d have to ‘hit all the marks.’

‘Truman plays my character’s younger self, but he’s not the actor in the family – he’s an artist and is going to be a cinematographer.’

‘We talked about it a lot and it was all his choice, but I said to him, ‘No matter what your last name is, you are going to have to hit the marks.’

Ultimately, Hanks said he had nothing to worry about as Truman was ‘extraordinary’ in the film.

‘Not everyone is cut out for that, but he did a magnificent job and I thought he was extraordinary,’ he continued.

‘It’s still to be discovered if he’s caught the acting bug – we will see where he wants to go with it.’

A Man Called Otto is released on January 6
