Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden struggled to hold back the tears when magician Richard Jones surprised her by bringing out the nurse who saved her life.

During Sunday’s magic special, previous magicians that have graced the series compete for the first time to be crowned the ultimate magician.

Stephen Mulhern took the hosting after Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly were struck down by Covid.

Meanwhile Amanda, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams were back on the judging panel, with American magician Penn Jillete (half of magic duo Penn and Teller) stood in for Simon Cowell.

Magician Richard – who won the series back in 2016 – took to the stage and asked Amanda to take part in his magic trick.

The 51-year-old was told to think of a ‘very special’ person who went ‘above and beyond’ in her life ‘when you needed it most.’

The TV personality revealed that her special person is Pippa Nightingale, the midwife who ‘delivered my baby’ and ‘saved my life.’

Richard left Amanda stunned as he revealed Pippa’s name was under the card, and the radio host was left even more shocked as Pippa was unveiled in the box.

Amanda burst into tears as the pair shared an emotional hug. Fellow judge Alesha was also left shocked at the sweet reunion.

‘First of all, I don’t know how you got Pippa… I don’t know how you did that,’ Amanda sobbed.

‘She’s an extraordinary person and you’re an extraordinary magician, because it’s the emotional bullets, the story that goes with you and makes magic believable and real.’

Viewers were also shocked by the wholesome act, with one writing: ‘Once again, Richard proving he’s amazing.’

‘WTH Richard Jones should have won hands down,’ another fumed.

Elsewhere, it was a magical night for Eric Chein, who was crowned show champion.

Britain’s Got Talent: The Ultimate Magician is available to watch on ITVX.
