David Beckham posed for a picture with his youngest son Cruz as the pair took their seats to watch Argentina and France fight it out in Qatar to be crowd winners of the World Cup 2022.

The former footballer, 47, jetted out to the Middle East ahead of the competition and has been in the stands ever since but this time he shared the moment with a special guest.

At 17-years-old, Cruz stood alongside his dad and dressed in a formal black suit jacket and tie for the big occasion.

Flags for both nations were laid out on the pitch behind the smiling father and son as the Lusail Stadium in Lusail, Qatar geared up to watch the final clash of the winter series.

Donning a beige blazer and colourful tie, the father of four held his phone above the packed arena to capture the opening ceremony of the World Cup final.

Alongside the family snap, the sporting legend penned to his 76.3million followers: ‘World Cup final @cruzbeckham @roadto2022en #fifaworldcup #Qatar2022 WOW [sic]’.

The father and son duo blocked out some time before the beginning of proceedings tonight as he showed Cruz around the bustling streets of the city.

He documented the pair’s outing on his Instagram stories and typed the words, ‘can’t believe I got away with this’ across the video.

In the next slide, David uploaded another selfie with his second youngest offspring – this time writing: ‘Live from the Souq’.

They can be seen standing in front of an alleyway that boasted rows upon rows of world flag bunting showing off the many nations that took part in the competition.

The former Manchester United player sparked controversy over his involvement with Qatar as a host nation after he reportedly signed a multi-million pound deal to act as their ambassador.

Qatar’s attitude towards human rights, especially that of the LGBTQ+ community has been called into question from the moment they were announced as the host nation for the football event.

Recently, David made his first public statement since the beginning of the tournament through a spokesperson.

He told an American press outlet that he ‘has always believed that sport has the power to be a force for good in the world.’

The statement continued: ‘We understand that there are different and strongly held views about engagement in the Middle East but see it as positive that debate about the key issues has been stimulated directly by the first World Cup being held in the region.

‘We hope that these conversations will lead to greater understanding and empathy toward all people and that progress will be achieved.’
