Yippee-ki-yay, it’s nearly Christmas.

And that means we’ll soon be tucking into Christmas turkey (unless you’re trying an alternative this year), enjoying some time with family and friends, and watching our favourite Christmas films.

Which, for some, includes Die Hard. Yes. John McTiernan’s 1988 violent, witty and action masterpiece starring Bruce Willis incongruously sits alongside the likes of The Holiday and Love, Actually as a bonafide Christmas classic.

So, here’s how to watch Die Hard this year.

Is Die Hard on Netflix?

Alas, Die Hard is not on Netflix. But, before you get all John McClane, there’s some good news.

Die Hard is available to stream on Disney Plus.

The original is streaming on the service alongside all of the sequels: Die Hard 2, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Die Hard 4.0 and A Good Day to Die Hard.

If you aren’t already a Disney Plus customer, you can sign up for £7.99 a month (or pay £79.90 upfront for an annual subscription, saving over 15%).

Subscribers can register Disney Plus on up to 10 devices and one account can support up to seven profiles – while you can stream content concurrently on four devices at once.

When to watch Die Hard on TV

Die Hard is also showing on TV across the Christmas period.

It’s next on Thursday, December 22 at 11:15pm on ITV1. It’s later showing on Tuesday, December 27 at 9pm on ITV4.

Why is Die Hard considered a Christmas film?

‘Now I have a machine gun, ho-ho-ho.’

If that line wasn’t enough to cement its place as a Christmas film, there’s a myriad of arguments to suggest the gory action classic is, indeed, festive.

For a start, it takes place during the holidays. Next, it’s about a man, Bruce Willis’ John McClane, trying to reconnect with his family over the Christmas season… it just so happens some German terrorists get in the way.
