I was told my outfit was ‘inappropriate’ for a barbecue but I’d rather be overdressed than under… I love looking good

SHE was labelled “inappropriate” for wearing a skintight minidress and knee-high boots to a friend’s barbecue.

But Lilly has hit back at her critics, insisting that looking good for every occasion is part of her Latina culture.

Sharing a video of herself climbing out of a big car on TikTok, she wrote over the top: “Apparently this outfit was ‘inappropriate’ for a barbecue.

“Where I’m from, we dress our best to get together. No matter how small they are.

“We like to party and we like to look good.”

“This is part of our culture and if you don’t like it, don’t invite us,” she concluded.

She was quickly praised for her sense of style in the comments section, with one person writing: “I’d rather be over dressed than underdressed.”

“This,” Lilly responded.

“Seriously,” another added.

“Even if it is a sweatpants day we still do the hair & the make up. Mi Tia maria taught me that.”

“I’m always confused how people define ‘appropriate’ outside of school or an office cause you look (okay sign),” someone else commented.

As another wrote: “My friends always say I’m extra.

“Now I just say ‘You know you choose to be basic today.

“‘You wanted to be basic don’t be mad at me for your choice’.”

“Love this!” Lilly laughed.
